Often accounting and finance are used interchangeably. Both indeed refer to administration and management of an organization's assets, however, they differ in scope and focus particularly.

Finance
Business finance in specific is dealing with raising and managing of funds, i.e. capital by the business organisation. This requires planning, analysing and controlling operations of financial managers. Thus, typical finance activities are investing, borrowing, lending, budgeting and forecasting.
Accounting
Accounting is focusing on processing transactions and communicating financial information. As a result, accounting is preparing a companies financial statements using specific accounting standards. Financial statments cover typically the income statements (together with potential other comprehensive income statement), balance sheets and cash flow statements.
As you migh already obtained from above information - finance is often relying on accounting reports and statements. Consequently it is of advantage to understand at least basic accounting to proper use and understand the tools of finance.
